Sweet & Salty is a nurturing support group designed for new parents navigating the rollercoaster journey of the postpartum experience. Whether you're in sweet postpartum bliss or neck-and-neck with your baby in the most-tears-shed contest (probably a bit of both?)—our circle offers a safe space for sharing experiences, seeking guidance, and finding solace in community. Come connect with fellow new parents, exchange stories, and embrace the full spectrum of emotions that come with this hugely transformative time.

What to expect in this support group:

  • Opportunities to share about your own experience

  • Exploring specific themes related to the postpartum experience, as well as looser, more open discussions

  • The option to just listen without sharing anything personal

  • One-on-one, small group, and full group connection

  • Support from experienced practitioners who care about seeing you heal, survive and thrive through this period of your life

Joana Allis

Yoga Teacher • Postpartum Doula

Joana is postpartum doula, yoga instructor specializing in prenatal and baby & me yoga and social worker by education. She has been supporting families with newborns since 2016, and running support circles since 2020. She understands her work with folks through their postpartum journey to be about meeting each person exactly where they are, supporting them to feel empowered as they adjust to and learn their new baby and their new selves. As a queer woman and daughter of a Brazilian immigrant, Joana is passionate about providing as much support as possible to each family she has the honor of encountering on this journey - she is certain we are not meant to do this alone.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What’s the age limit for the babies?

Up until they’re able to move around on their own. We love crawlers but our studio just isn’t baby-proofed enough for the movers and shakers.

I feel pretty good during this postpartum period. Is this group still right for me?

Absolutely! Even if you’re feeling pretty peaceful and happy right now, there is nothing like the joy of connecting with other people going through the same thing as you. Plus, you might inspire someone else :)

What if my baby needs to eat?

We strongly suggest you feed it! ;) In any way you need to. Absolutely no need to cover up or worry about offending anyone here.

What if my baby cries?

Wait your baby cries???????? Have you seen a doctor for that???? JUST KIDDING. All baby and adult emotions are welcome here.

Do I have to be a “mom” to join?

Absolutely not! Any caregiver with a baby is very welcome.
